Hi, I’m Naylah Sarabia-Childs! I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and my connection to the nonprofit world started at a young age. Growing up with family members who worked in nonprofits, I was introduced early on to the importance of community, service, and creating opportunities for others.
My passion for working with youth really began when I became a Leader in Training throughout my 4 years of High school. Being young myself, I loved being someone the younger kids could look up to, and learn from. That experience helped me realize how much of an impact a positive role model can have on a young person’s life. It also showed me that I could use my own experiences and leadership to make a difference in the lives of Milwaukee’s youth.
Most recently, I completed a 10-month apprenticeship with Public Allies WI through the AmeriCorps program, where I developed my leadership, professional, and community-building skills while working alongside others passionate about creating positive change. The experience helped me grow as a leader and strengthened my commitment to nonprofit and community work.
Today, my biggest passion is youth development. I want to help young people understand their own strengths, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to become the adults and leaders our community needs. I’m excited to continue growing, learning, and finding new ways to make a positive impact right here at I Have A Dream MKE!
